I'm pretty pathetic. I painted my girl's bowfront inside her apt. Carpet is still blue. Second time this happened with flooding. I need someone to slap the sense into me.

+1 to the shop vac. I never over filled a tank but I've had 3 issues with a leaking canister filter and one broken tank (koosh ball to the glass). Those things make the primary clean up alot easier.

I made this "U" shape pipe out of 1/2" CPVC pipe. It hooks onto the edge of my tank. I dont have to worry about it coming off. I used to use the big paper clips but never trusted them. I also just changed the hose to a RV white drinking hose.

Alex at Ultimate told me he fell asleep during a water change at 11pm and woke up at 8am. Ouch. Worst I did was 1 hour at full blast on a pvc/vinyl plank floor. shop vac saved me too.

Old timers might remember the time Delock flooded his 2 times in one night on the 3rd floor of a apartment building. Ouch again...

mogan sorry to hear about the floud. But it does happen to all of us. I use a big spring clamp to hold the hose. But some one or some thing will destraced me. I will catch it as it hites the floor. There is no sound like water hiting a wood floor.

Reading all of this makes me thankful for not having carpet where carpet should be. Perhaps it's a good thing! Hopefully you get that cleaned up quickly, Josiah. Make sure the pad is dry or it's gonna smell awful.

Real fish hobbyists don't like carpet! Lol
This is why I really want hardwoods in the next place... or tile...vinyl... Whatever! Carpet is a disaster waiting to happen.

Just need to be vigilant. I usually sit on the couch and smoke hookah or work on the laptop while I have the python going. But I only have a 105g so I imagine it's different doing water changes on 200+ gallon tanks.
