  • Best ich medicine

It's been a long time since I had fish with ich and back then they were salt fish.

Anyway, I brought home some angels this weekend and I noticed today that one of them has ich.

I've cranked up the heat and tomorrow I'm going to pick up some meds. I have sand, swords, snails, pleco and fish in there.

What meds are the best for my tank?

Get some AP Quick Cure from Wal-Mart. IMO, this is the best treatment for Ich.

Heat and table salt has been my best solution for Ich.

Though I'm normally a fan of natural methods in this case I'd rather be safe than sorry and use the meds.

I did crank up the heat, but the salt wouldn't be great on my snails or plants.

Looks like the quick cure will kill snails too. Hope the plants survive :(

Yup. Heat and salt doesn't work too well with plants or snails. They have a low tolerance of salt. Even some plecos and catfish are sensitive to increased salinity. You can move the snails to another tank while you're treating the tank.

Kordon Ich Attack. It's an herbal med. You can get it most anywhere.

Best stuff I've used. Saved a bunch of little South American puffers that were so infected they looked like little cotton balls. And you know puffers are really sensitive to meds.

There's a resistant strain of ich going around for the past year. I found it was resistant to salting as well as Kordon Ich Attack, which is normally awesome. Only thing it responded to was copper-based meds. Had to remove all the snails though.

I like high temps and uv sterilizer. And Formalin in severe cases
