I would order a new brace. They run about $50 to $80 depending on the size of the tank.

use proxy with fiber glass sheets. i would sand the piece were it broke, so the proxy will attach nicely and place the fiber glass sheet on top to give it reinforcement also i would do a wrap around the bridge so the eproxy will cover the whole area.

I don't know if it would fit. Its only 18" across the middle from outside to outside.

Aesl1982 - That looks like what a lot of people have done on the web. I'm not certain I want to go that route but I may end up with some thing similar.

Found a glass place today but they never got back with me on cutting a 1/2" piece of glass. I'll have to actually stop in the store and see what they say.

The Aluminum strip is 24" long and about 2 1/2 " wide.

Just hang on to it. I'm gonna try this piece of glass. Its 3/8" x 6"x18". I'm taking it to the shop today.

Because it broke while filling it with water. I would be concerned why the brace broke...you have an effective of ~0.4 psi and about 1000si per side.

They say these pieces can fail after several years.
BUT..... I'm still not certain the stand is giving enough support in the front. Probably gonna add some more wood to it.
What do you use to attach the new glass brace? Silicone? Epoxy??

Your stand probably had very little to do with the brace breaking. Use silicone.

Call City Pets and see if they can get upon a new upper frame for that tank.

Got the glass cut for $5. The guy cut it by hand so its not perfect but I think it will do. I'll work on the repair tomorrow.

Siliconed the new glass brace in and tank has been filled for almost a week now. For future reference I got a part number R32604 which is suppose to be the new frame. Customer service told me to order from our LFS.
