  • Fish keep dying???

A couple of days ago, I found 3 dead adult bristlenose plecos, didn't look damaged, like a fight might, just dead. Took them out. Next day 2 more. Took them out. Did a 70% water change. Ammonia 0%, Nitrite 0%, Nitrate 50ppm. I know Prime may give false readings. Yesterday lost an adult Tropheus, so took it out, moved rocks around and found a couple of decaying bodies. Another 70% water change along with stirring up the sand bed, and a filter cleaning. Tonite come home to another dead adult tropheus. Nitrates still around 50. Haven't been feeding as much since this started...
Have 2 2262's and an airstone, lots of holey rock....
    WTF???
    Any suggestions???

How much and how often do you feed? And how much and how often do you do water changes? Also if you are running Charcol in your filters you need to change it at least once a month if not once every two weeks. If not it becomes saturated and clogged and can release deadly toxins back into your tank. I never use charcol. Could you have added any fish lately which might have brought a bug into the tank? Always advisable to have a quarantine tank ready for new arrivals. Before adding them to the main Tank..

    Good Luck!

Usually feed in the morning and after work....probably a couple of tablespoons of food for a lot of fish (150g tank). No charcoal, water change every week to 10 days. Did add some small tropheus but didn't add any of the water from them. Quarantine tank was not available at the time...

Hows the oxygen levels? I know if I overfill a tank that doesn't have a wet dry, only canisters, they start struggling and plecos are generally the first to go when its o2 related. Take out like 2-3" of water since I know you're a canister guy and just leave it at that level for the next couple days to see if it helps any.

Don't think it is bloat, but found another dead fish tonite. Started treating last night with some Epsom salts and Metronidazole

                  Anybody have any other ideas?

I've had the exact same issue with a colony before. They look fine but one after another there will be one in the corner not eating and eventually die. Sometimes one on one day, then the next. These were ujiji. I never had any success with treating the whole tank with metro. No signs of bloat or anything. I had just assumed it was bloat. Good luck
