Yeah, I read that about driftwood so I boiled it for a few days. I had to flip it a few times because it was longer than my pot was high. Then I soaked it in my tub for about a week until it sank, but it didn't turn the color of the water in the tub. The tank is about 2 months old now. The water was actually looking good but then I did the big water change and used a gravel cleaner. Is it possible I sucked out all the good bacteria? I have a hob fluval 50.

Lol i don't think you suck out all the good bacteria. I think you will need to add another HOB if Fluval 50 is all you have for that tank. It's simply not enough. Also how often do you feed?

I'm with Ptran, I think it's still cycling. When I first got my 30gal I would clean it like crazy and had all kinds of problems until someone told me that I was cleaning so much that I was disturbing the bacteria. I cut back some and things got better. It was an established tank that a friend gave me but I was cleaning everything all at once. Filters, gravel, wiping glass..you name it I cleaned it. LOL I probably would've given the fish baths if I'd thought to. LOL
I think my Brichardi tank clouds up because I clean a bit too heavily. I bet it's been running for nearly 30yrs. I'm the 3rd owner.
Majority of bacteria live in the filter so don't worry about cleaning you tank too thoroughly. I do clean my tanks thoroughly on weekly basis. I always have at least 2 filters on my tank, so when it's time to clean, i would clean only one filter at a time. Never have cloudy problem. Do not clean everything at the same time.

The fluval 50 isn't enough for a 36 gallon? It said good for 50 gallons so I though I was going above what I needed! Lol. What kind of filter does the peanut gallery suggest for a tank of that size?
I currently feed them once a day, but was thinking I need to cut back a bit. I was doing every other day when it was just the guppies, but upped it when I hit the golden and platinum mollies. Plus I feed the plecos at night. Am I over feeding them?
cleaning your filter can mess with your cycle. If you clean the filter with tap water. the tap water will kill your bacteria. you should always use water from the tank. water you are removing for water change.

I actually didn't touch the filter with that water change, only removed the tank water using a gravel cleaner tube and replaced it and added chemicals

That's the thing with my 30gal. I vac, wipe the inside front of the glass and clean the filter. I think I'm over feeding a bit because of the fry so I go a bit nuts when I clean that tank. I have been thinking it's a little bacterial bloom that makes it cloud up for a few days after I clean. No?

I know this, but I always run water real heavy into my impeller shaft because I use sand. I have prefilter sponges but the biowheels give me heck. Hate those things. One of them sounds like a crippled timer right now. grrrrrr
I know your comment is for J as well. We're going to keep you guys busy.

When my biowheel finally dies I'm going to put an Aquaclear 110 on my 30gal. It's for 60-110gal. Of course with brichardi I'll probably have 200 fish in there. LOL Right now it has the biowheel for a 70gal. It is a really good idea to have 2 filters on a tank though. If one dies you don't have an emergency.

No it's not enough. I have an AC50 and Eheim 2217 on my 29 gal. Over filtration is the key to keep the tank clear and clean. Suggest adding an AC70. You definitely can use an extra filter IMO.

I was thinking more filter also, but do you think it's still cycling?
Filter has been running for 2 months, so i think it's probably done cycling.
