Bacteria live in your filter and substrate. There is very little in the water after cycling. I wouldn't ad any at this point. Let it clear and your good. It could be just the picture too. As for setting up new tanks. I use extra media from my wet/dry sump filters. I always have an empty tank with filters. The media is in my wet/dry. To set up. I pull the media out of the W/D. Put in it's filter. Add water to the tank. No cycle. It is pre cycled. Easy to do set up new filter on old tank with its old filter still running and the new filter will cycle in half the time. Hope this helps on the cycling prosses.

I'm a little worried because most of my fish are now swimming at the very top of the tank. I use the api products when I do the water changes. Should I be concerned?

Do you have an air pump and stone? Sounds like they need .ore oxygen. That is common after water change.

Any suggestions on airstones? What size airpump would I need for my 36 gallon?

It would tell you on the box what size of tank the air pump is good for. Personally I like power head, so I don't have to mess with air pump and air tube. But if you can't have too much current in the tank, air pump is a better choice because power head would produce a lot of current.

Took some pics of the Brichardi tank. Husband will show me how to put them in the pic section tomorrow. I don't much like the way they look with the iphone, but oh well. You bunch of stinkers.

I just ordered 2 of the marineland 8" led bubble curtains, tetra whisper 60 and some tubing. I'm excited, I hope it helps them, they love it and they play with the bubbles
