So I came home from work today to a ridiculous bloom of BGA. I left around 1:00 and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, but when I got home around 8:30 my surface plants, filter intake, and most of my bolbitis are covered in it. I've done a little research regarding how to deal with it, but I'm worried that it will spread to unmanageable levels before I'm able to obtain Erythromycin.
Those of you that have dealt with this before:
1. What was the most effective method you tried?
2. About how much time do I have before this becomes a more serious issue?
3. Will my UV Sterilizer be of any use?
4. It looks as though it is beginning to grow on my filter outlet. Should I clean out the filter as well?
I'm sort of freaking out right now. It really worries me how quickly this stuff started to take over the tank. Any and all advice is more than welcome.
