              Re: Aquatic Vets in houston?

Here's an update on my little darlin:
She is still blind and the copper treatment did not work. The vet emailed me last night to see how she was doing. I gave him an update and waiting to hear back from him. I have tried everything to help her. I am hoping to ship her to him in the next two weeks. If I remember right he said he needed at least two weeks to get a tank ready for her arrival. Here is what I have tried:
              Fresh water dips
              H202 dips
              Furan-2
              Maracyn-2
              Penicillin
              Copper treatment
              Prazipro
Like I told the vet, her eyes do look alot better than they did but there has been no improvement in the last month. It's now going on 3 months that she has gone blind. I am still hand feeding her with a syringe and she is actually doing really good with her feedings. I move her to a bowl so that I don't fowl her water and after I feed her I move her back to the tank. It's like she knows it's time to eat, she gets real calm and waits. Then when she feels the syringe she goes bonkers! I actually have her on video. Can't post it, it's not dvd.
Anyway I'm hoping to hear back from the vet later today and see if I can get her shipped on Monday June 30th. By then he should have a tank ready.

Can anyone give me pointers on how to seal the bag so that the water and air dosen't leak out? I'm not very good at this. The few fish I have bagged after a few hours the bag deflated.
              Thanks everyone,
              Lissa

Re: Aquatic Vets in houston? Update 6/12: Need shipping advi

awww bummer to hear that he hasn't regained his sight!
at least he is eating well.

I dont have any experience shipping fish...
but it seems to me that a fish that spikey shouldnt be put in a bag... I would be inclined to put it in a bucket or something more durable

Actually I emailed Dan with Houston Aquarium Warehouse and he's going to help me with the shipping after I talk to the vet and find out when he will be ready. I think that's awfully nice of him to help me. I know the vet said he would need a few weeks to get a tank set up and ready for her so now it's just a waiting game. Thanks for the reply.

If you lived a little closer or if I had a ship coming into Beaumont soon I would just show you a sure fire way to ship fish without needing all the bells and whistles the "experts" say you need. I have shipped fish that have taken three days to get to their location and not a one dead. I shipped fish about 100 times and never not a one has every died, and I usually even use USPS priority mail 2-3 day. If you want email me at willj006@aol.com and will type it out for you.
