A friend of mine had one that was almost 3ft. and he said it would eat anything that could fit in his mouth. I forgot which fish, his gar or shovelnose, he said it ate. And ate a adult oscar.

i dont doubt that one bit.. when i initially saw his huge stomach, i thought he at my bichir, but nope.   im sure this cat will eat anything. i feed him crawfish and chunks of tilapia and shrimp.
