Wow!  Who knew!?  Huh...what causes the cyano blooms in the first place?

Supposedly....low flow, excessive nutrients and too much light.

usually a lack of nitrates in the water is the concensus that i have read many places. so water that is too clean lol. anyway the fish look great. has there really been no signs that their eyesight is returning? that bites, but it sounds like they are doing ok with that. i mean people keep other types of blind fish why not trophs. i wonder if they can still manage to breed if they are blind?

Well, they definitely respond to sound.  They know it's time to start grazing for food when I'm talking to them.  And they do this thing where they come up to the front of the glass and tilt backwards...like they are trying to see out from the bottom of their eye.  So, maybe they have limited sight?  I know they are at least mostly blind because they are the easiest fish to catch!

I doubt they would breed, but you never know....I was kind of doubting they would live and they did that!!

I wonder if Tetracycline would work on Selena. I think it's the only thing I have not tried yet. I might do that before I ship her off to the vet. If it helped your fish maybe it will help mine.

You know...I was actually thinking about that this morning...weird.  The gel-drops I got are called 'Gel-Tek Tetracycline'.  I actually found it at Petco of all places.  That's the stuff I made the spiralina paste with.  But you are still hand feeding her, right?  You might be able to just give her the drops straight!  And then, of course there is the powder tetracycline that you just add to the tank.  We used both so I'm not sure which one worked the best for us.

                Tell me how it goes!

Great job! What lucky fish to have you taking care of them.

Thanks everyone for all the nice things you've said.  At the end of the day, it just boiled down to the fish having the will to live, and us having the time and resources to help them do that.

Jesper - I'll definitely be posting more pics...you know me - I'm like a tourist with a camera around the fish.
