I ordered some fish off of aquabid the otherday and they arrived and looked fine. I floated their bag for about 20minutes and then released them into my tank. they were fine and looked good for about a day. I came home about yesterday to find them dead on the bottom with some horrible sores right behind their gills. not only that, but their scales had fallen off near their tail and worked its way towards their head. I took it as a loss and moved on, but now my Chocolate cichlid has the same thing. It started as a small red looking sore behind his gills and he now has all of the symptoms as the fish before. what is this called and how do I fix it. I have already done a water change and turned up the heat on the tank, as well as adding extra aquarium salt to the tank. how do I make sure nobody else gets this. It seems to take only three days to kill a fish.

what kind of fish did you order?
Rule 1...dont dont dont never never never never never ever....I mean never never never never ever ever ever put fish in your main system without knowing what type of water condition they came from.
Never ever...never ever ever ever
Fish are like us and can carry dieases that we dont know they have. They can acclimate to one type of water type and flourish or get ill in another one.
You have to acclimate fish from unknown systems before you drop them in the tank..
never ever!

From what I can read is sores are usually a bacterial. Binox your tanks asap. Raise temp to 82..

Any way you can post a pic? Might be easier to diagnose that way. It seems odd that the location of the sores is in the same area on all the fish...Our Fishhouse
