I have 9 angels in a 55 that have been doing great till today. Thought they were starting to pair up. But around 12pm I noticed them all in the corner of the tank with clamped fins. I have had 3 die in a 2hr-3hr period. Only thing I could think of that is different is 1. the water I added yesterday-but sat out for 3 day with prime in it. 2. I added a solid black angel from the store and after 2 days it died. Did a water test and everything is good except a little high of a ph but they have been raised with a little higher ph because our water just has a high ph. So the ph is nothing new. Not sure how to treat because there isnt any signs of much other than listed above. PLease help!!!

My only suggestion would be Large water change 50% plus. Do this for the next 3 days.
Make sure that you double dose on the prime.
Get carbon filtration if at all possible in there to take out anything that is in the water.
The main reason I see your fish dying quick is because something is in the water, and what we are working on by doing these large water changes is diluting it out
What fish do Jesper have

110 Cyps, WC Xeno Spilopterus Kipili WC/F1/F2 T. sp red Kiku

Forgot to mention that I have had about 8 mollies with these guys from the time I brought them home and they dont seem to be bothered by whatever this is but I had to remove them because they started picking on the dying ones. Also while looking a few min. ago one of the angels with black on it doesn't seem to have the same color. Almost as if there is a film or something dulling its color.?.

That sucks. I've woken up to having my fish dead is like waking up in a nightmare. Took me about a month to full realize what I was doing wrong. I have let water change water set out and hasn't been a problem, unless it gets something in it. But if the water was inside and there wasn't any airborne containments, I can't see any reason for the water to go bad. I've always here how it is a good idea to quarantine new fish for a week or two. I just never have the space for a qt tank. Dunno what it could be, best of luck.

I think I have an extra hob and a new powerhead\prefilter, I will see about adding those in the morning. I did the water change and I am seeing more movement from a couple of them so I will continue with the water changes as well.
I think my little black angel friend brought in something and left it behind when he left. I know to not add new fish without putting them in a small tank for the first few days, but I couldn't resist. Wont be doing that again.Last edited by leahd626; 01-26-2009, 11:30 PM.

so sorry leah, keep up the water changes, and for the future, setup a 10g even if its in a closet, put small hob and an air powered sponge filter, and no substrate or decor and keep them in there for atleast 10 days.
i have a 10g in my guest bedroom for this and since i have begun doing this, havent lost a single fish due to introducing a sickly new guy/girl.
i would also add 'NEW' carbon to whatever filter is on this tank. replacing it 2will give it an extra kick.
also i would add pimafix just incase it is a fungus or parasite.
as you said it looks like a film covering the body and dulling color.
also i would vacum the grave once just to make sure that nothing is trapped that could harm them.
hope this helps.FRENCH FRY!!!
