I pretested the magnets without the resin beforehand and its ungodly compared to the zoomed magnets.

Especially in the big tanks with the thick glass.

Are they held by a magnet on both sides?

I just made one for the 2260 intake which is 1", the weight of the hose and all will be pushing onto the magnet mount since the width of the "U" on the intake is much wider then the width of my tank.

If anyone noticed the intake pipes on my tank were down in the sand a bit and there was rocks piled around it to hold it in place.

I believe these magnets will hold it with no problems and I will have pictures to show once the resin cures.

Oh... plan to make magnet mounts for my breeder box and veggie clip too. Possibly a frag rack or two.

Tip: To get the nice clear and shine on them use a grind wheel with the cloth wheel and get the polishing compound for plastic it's either white or red and that brings out a nice clean shiny finish.

Also on the release agent it's better to pour the resin in while it's still wet you don't have to wait until it's dry.

It took me about 20 frag racks to finally get the hang of it.

I had a feeling the release agent wasn't doing to well dry... the second one I did was still wet when I poured in the resin and it was much easier to remove.

I just stopped by City Pets and they sell the magnetic mounting kit for 1 clamp for $6.99/each.... that would be about $28 to secure on Eheim hose setup with two on the intake and two on the exhaust.

I just finished my first set. The cost is about $11 for the total of the set so I and happy with that, even more happy with how strong they are!
