I wish I bought 20 or 25 ft instead of only 15 ft of spa hose. you won't lug this around the house. even at 15 ft it's bulky and heavy. I think the pellet carbon allows for the fast flow. I think a black diamond granule would clog and blow this thing up at full blast.

I am using black diamond granule in my carbon filter and it doesn't build too much pressure under full strength.

I will be upgrading my canister though to one that holds 1cu.ft. which will be filled with pelletized carbon and then I think it wouldn't matter as much with the amount of carbon the water has to flow through.

How do you make sure that the floss and canvas dont move when you turn the water on and off? Do you pack it full or secure it with mesh?

I think Im going to attempt this as well but I think I would rather make a shorter section of carbon filtration and replace it yearly then have a 15ft heavy monster. I'm thinking 5ft? Any thoughts?

5ft is not long enough to remove chlorine and deffinitely not chloromines which needs to be longer.

15ft is about the shortest you are going to want to run it.. and it does not weight a lot. I move it every week from my garage and into my living room.

Now what I did is I rolled it up then put inside a plastic tote where I never move it.. I just carry the tote around. The tote is big enough to also hold my 16ft 1" drain hose too.

It will fill my 180g tank in about 1 hour. Pure water that now I have seen fish spawn as soon as the water hits the tank. They love the pure water !
