Re: Need ideas for Rack or fish room
You might look at the show stands the HAS is using for FOTAS and make them an offer for right after the show if you are interested. I used used metal pallet rack shelving. Scott has wooden shelves, you could go to one of the LHA meetings and see those. The Xiphophorus center has pictures of their stands stands on the internet. I am sure you could make an appointment and go see if you wanted.

Re: Need ideas for Rack or fish room
If you send me an email at guppymax@msn.com I think I can find some pictures of one of my friends stands that he made with landscape timbers. I don't know where he is right now and I would not feel good about posting them on the internet without his permission. He probably would not mind.

Re: Need ideas for Rack or fish room
what part of town are you in? If we can work out a schedule, you can come by and see how mine are built. I have 4 racks that are 3 tanks high and 5 rack that are 2 high.
the 3 high racks are slightly different from each other as 2 of the racks hold 29 gallon tanks and 20 longs and 1 holds 30 longs and 25's, while the last one holds 37 cubes and 30 cubes.
the racks that are two high hold 75's.GIVE NONE, TAKE NONE - BE FREE, HAVE FUN

Re: Need ideas for Rack or fish room
If you look in my photo album you can see one of the racks I build in partial paint before adding any tanks to it. Racks are pretty straight forward to build, just remember to allow clearance between levels! A tank which measures 18" tall will require roughly30" centers on your braces that the tanks are to sit on. If you fail to allow for adequate clearance you will pay for it for the life of the rack by not being able to easily get into your tanks. Trust me, I learned this one the hard way.
If you find yourself on the north end, around Humble some weekend, let me know, I would be more than happy to show you what I have. I am currently in the process of designing a rack to hold 6 110's, which will bring me to 95 tanks.Consider my posts as general information based on personal experiences, and in most cases, far oversimplified. Actual mileage may vary. Don't try this at home. If symptoms persist, contact your physician.
