I already added some extensions since i made this vid. basically a coupling and a piece of pipe that goes down far enough to be in the water , it slides on and off so i can take it off to remove the filter sock and put it on to make it quieter and stop all the splashing that was going on. now its actually much quieter than my original wet-dry. thats why i said gen1 its a work in progress. :)
NICE! Got great flow. Still waiting on my new filter socks to show up. They should have been here last week. Bought 50 4x12 from 5 star filter for $2.00 each.
i really want to see how you like them. let me know how they do.
i'm dieing to upgrade to a mag 12 and open up my other bulkhead (which is plugged). then we'll see some flow. just to think thats just one 1,000gph (not counting for head height) pump and one 1" bulkhead. BTW checked my nitrates for the first time since i moved and it was < 5 ppm one week after a water change.
totally new tot his concept, but liking the reported results. my wet dry is super noisy and i'm having nitrate trouble even changing the water once weekly. how does it work and what exactly is the functionality/methodology to this?

What size is your tank that has the wet/dry on it ? How many fish you have in the tank ? What size is your wet/dry ? What size pump ?

basically it polishes the water better than any filter pad your ever gonna find. crystal clear.do you have a standpipe on your wetdry? that can really quiet things down. would need more info to help solve your problems maybe a bigger wet-dry is what you need (if overstocked) or maybe a good filter cleaning.
ordered some new filter socks , but i ordered the wrong size. probably gonna send 'em back but had to show yall the size of these things before i did . the one on the left is a standard 4" x 11" filter sock like i'm currently running
... i'm having nitrate trouble even changing the water once weekly.
You can increase the frequency/amount of water changes weekly and/or add a veggie filter to your wet/dry to use up the nitrates. fshfrk has a dandy DIY algae filter that doubles as a snack for his fish.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.
it is drilled on the bottom but there is a overflow box inside the tank so if the power goes out then in drains about 1" of water out of the tank into the wet dry and stops.
