Most of the time people with drilled tanks have plumbing with PVC pipes, there's a adapter that has a shut off valve.
but the shut off valve ain't gona do any good if your not there to shut it off during power outage...

now the way he set up his, what happens when the power goes off... i think what made me stay away from the sump/wet-dry idea til now was the fact of power outages...

the drian goes out the bottom of the tank and up the back to about 1" below the water line, and there is an air hole at the top there. when power goes out and water drops below that point the air hole causes it to lose suction and stop draining. its all in the thread if you look through it.

how about the water that is going back to the tank, when power goes out, the pump stops, won't the water go back down? if its connect to a spray bar that sits right at water line, then i can understand, but i've seen a lot people return pipe sits in the middle of the tank...

Has anybody used a normally closed silenoid valve? It opens with power and closes without power that way its totaly automatic and no water could come back at all when the power goes out.

You can do this.. but honestly if you setup your system correctly the first time you are not going to have this problem where you need one.
