Wood for canopy

Plan on building a canopy for one of my tanks question is, can I use treated wood for the bottom of it. Does it matter if it is treated or not. Would treated wood be a disaster waiting to happen if it gets wet and dripps back into the tank? Thanks for your input.

i would use treated wood for sure since its a moist environment...just paint the whole thing and put some sort of a clear coat or stain to seal it....thats what i would do at least

no the chemicals will kill your fish just use pine,white wood or red wood

if you coat it properly nothing will be a problem

ah.. why take the chance??? its fungicide and insecticide nuff said

especially with all the splashing that goes on at the top of the tank it is a recipe for disaster!

whatever you decide to do, just make sure you dont cut corners and pay attention to detail...canopy is not worth the life of your fish IMO....but post progress pics cause im interested in making a canopy as well and i would like to see how you do it
