just keep it rolled up and use a water hose to go from the carbon filter to tank

If you do get it straight then you will have problems coiling it.
My hoses become a lot softer and more manageable if I run hot water through it for a while. I am with Cichlid, no point in getting it straight it doesn't really make a difference.Jarrod - Houston, Texas

You need a piece of hose. It wasn't intended to go directly into the tank. It is too heavy. The best idea I've seen so far is having it coiled up in a bin. Mine is 15" of the 1 1/2 and it is just about all you'd want to wrestle with. I leave it outside and run a 75' hose through the house.55g Planted- Malawi and Victorian Cichlids
