I would buy 2 tubes of GE I --- you should be able to do the work with one.. but running out in the middle of the job is a MAJOR no no.... Return the second tube if you didnt break into it.

I always wait at least 4 days. If you can't smell it after 2-3 days you are probably OK. Put a fan over it and you will speed the prossess.

                        Hi

I have been a way for a while but through John's encouragement have gotten involved again.... Thank you John...

                        With that in mind...

I have used GE I silicone and recommended to another person over in the New York area... His tank was only 135 gallon... He waited two days...

After two days.. filled the tank up and upon the 4th day...... he was ripping his carpet up.... half the tank was drained... and he did the remaining half draining...

Needless to say, his wife is not too happy. Father's day was not too good... and my name is not Bill anymore...

I have read on some other posts that there is silicone that is composed stronger than other silicone........

GE I says its 100 percent silicone... Does that mean it cannot be made any stronger?? Or that it is as strong as it will get??

It is my belief that this individual in New York did not quite seal this tank right as it was a leaker when he bought it and it leaked in the same area as before so am not totally sure what is going on.

                        Any thoughts???

                        Bill

GE Silicone 1 is the correct one to use, the fact that it leaked after being resealed could be attributed to any number of things.

1.) Was there any old silicone in edges?
2.) Was 2 days long enough to fully cured silicone?

I can say that I read these guys posts and it was very helpful.

I can state based on my little experience with this topic, that the GE I silicone bonds and holds tight! I’m assembling a glass aquarium, my first, and did a sloppy job on the bead work. So I went to disassemble, man was it a b!tch, the silicone was bonded strongly, I have no worries that the GE I silicone won't bond and seal.

He is my first attempt, will post when I’m don’t with second attempt, hopefully I’ll do a cleaner job on the bead.
