So, I bought a tank Pre-drilled. I'm removing the overflow in the tank and want to seal the two enormous holes in the bottom. What do you suggest? 1. Have a piece of glass cut larger then the holes and Silicone the heck out of it? 2. Same as #1. I'm out of guesses. Oh, last question. Instead of everyone doubting the GE1 silicone from lowes or home depot, why not just get the stuff from one of these Custom tank builder's? If it work's for them, it should work for you and me. We'll skip that for now, I just want to know what you would do to seal the holes. Thank's.

I did the same thing you are talking about doing with pvc caps from Home Depot....the silicone will work....I had a tank with 4 holes in the bottom and none of them leaked ...

Ok CF. Splain it to me. You got 4 holes. You buy 4 PVC caps. I assume larger than the hole. Add silicone to cap and glass, apply preasure, and that's it. No leaky? Hmmmmm. I'm scratching my head thinking about this. I've rigged plenty thing but, still scratching head.Lori's husband Bill.

key....let dry for a few days....
I used large black rubber washers under the pvc caps...(yes ..oversized) and the water pressure does the rest.....you could use any solid flat object that is water proof....it just needs to be solid....Truth is the cement that holds the bricks and stones of a sane and civilized society together. I have thought....mind you I have not tried this......but I had thought about trying a heat gun on the silicone and pulling them off....but....you must be careful not to go crazy with the surronding areas. where you don't want to disturb the silicone on the walls of the sides and bottom.......I believe the razor blade is the "go to" method though...just use patience and be careful......take your time.
