Rack build phase I done.
I should have enough space for eight 75's & four 40B's for a start.
Tomorrow prime & (hopefully) paint.
If this thread does not get updated in the next 2 months, please come looking for me in my garage as i may have succumbed to the oil based primer fumes.....

Does anyone here have any experiences with those potable "plug and play" de-humidifiers?
is this one any good?
70 pints seems to be quite a lot of moisture to be pulling out. If i drank 70 pints of beer in one sitting i'd be dead!

I'm getting one of the commercial dehu's from my job. Borrow it for a few months. Put it on a timer to kick on for 1 hr 4-5 times a day. Tha weather with the temp diff and my humidity inside water is pooring down all my windows. I can see this is going to be a problem soon. Since I am not running the AC now.200

Thanks guys for all the nice comments and suggestions. They are really helping me out.
I have this humidifier on order and am having it delivered right now. Should arrive in a few days. We'll see how it works.

I'm intending to plumb the condensate drain into my RO barrel. I figure it should be ok.
Before i left for singapore, i was in the process of building a drain system that will pump all the drain water into my flowerbeds, since i don't really have an actual drain close by to plumb the wastewater from waterchanges.... the build is ongoing, but i have this sink (sump) pump system on order for my drain. I hope it works out.

The only problem i see is that the darn thing draws 8.5 amps! That's more than half of my 15A breakers, which pretty much means i can't have anything else on that circuit.Last edited by nacra99; 12-13-2010, 01:33 AM.

Unfortunately progress has been somewhat slow. But thanks Tim for the kick in the butt!!
I'm slowly collecting used 75 gal tanks. If anyone has one to sell.. please let me know.
On the other hand, i stopped by PETCO and picked up a bunch of 20L and 29. The $1 per gallon sale is back!! Get em while they are cheap!!
I'll also have to put in one more circuit for the de-humidifier. The darn thing draws 15 Amps!!!
Here's the latest. I'm currently working on the plumbing and hopefully by this weekend i'll have a bunch of tanks drilled and painted.

Well... It's done! Kinda... I still have 2 more 20/29gal racks to build and i still have to plumb half the room, but i've gone as far as can go for now before school starts next week.
Here are some pics of the room as it is and it's current inhabitants ....
Here's how i insulated the garage door.. with 1/2" pink insulating foam. The next step will be to cover it with reflectix to cut down on radiant heat transfer.
I went portable with the dehumidifier. Frigidaire 70 pint dehumidifier.
