  • Adapter for bulkhead?

Okay . . . I have a 215 that is drilled for two inputs and two outpus on the bottom. It currently has one 2260 and a large external pump running. I was about to change the pump to another 2260 last night (it was pointed out that I had one laying in the garage), but I noticed that the output size is incorrect. I assume all I need is an adapter, but I have no idea where to get one. Last time I did something like this, I spent 45 minutes in one aisle at Home Depot.

Since the tank is currently full, I assume there isn't going to be an easy way to do this . . . (I'm gonna have to drain the water, huh?)

Since a picture is worth 1000 words,
    I want this:

    to look like this:
    Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

    Tim,

The intake strainer and return should be removable inside the tank.

You can take those off and replace them with a PCV adapter (threaded on one end and open on the other) and a long PVC pipe. The threaded side of the adapter will go into where the strainer and return use to be. The PVC pipe will go into the open end of the adapter. Make sure the PVC pipe is higher than the water in your tank.

If you do this and turn off (or remove) your eheim 2260 the water will not drain out.

When I drilled my tank and installed my strainer and return I made sure to not make it too too tight.

If your stainer and intake is very tight, or you used PVC glue I would NOT recommend doing this b/c you may damage the bulkhead seal.

Let me know how it goes and good luck!

I've got no problem draining the 215 -- there are only 3 fish in there. I just don't know where to go to get the adapter.

It looks like you need a threaded 1" to 5/8" reducer bushing and a 5/8" thread to hose barb adapter. I think Home Depot or Lowes should have them. If you want, I can come by on Friday and help with it. If you can confirm the sizes I can buy the parts ahead of time since I know where stuff is at the Lowes I go to.
