  • Tank Swap - Question about sizes...

Will a 110 xhigh go on the same stand as my existing 90 std?

most listed dimensions I have from folks seem to say no???? i.e. 48" wide for the 90 and 49" for the 110??? I am assuming it's due to the glass thickness?

I put this question here b/c the DIY folks usally have better insight on the technical issues...

75g, 90g or 110XL all have the same footprint, so the answer is yes.

The 110 I had was very narrow, like 48"l,29"h,13or15"d the 4' 75g is 18" front to back. The 90g I am used to seeing is identical to the 75 in every way, but 5' long instead of 4'. All 3 of those could have different footprints.

As long as the stand doesn't have a finishing trim that surrounds the base of the tank I think you will be fine.

Another thing to consider is this, can your stand hold an additional 140- 160 pound of water? In the realm of all senseable reality it should but you may want to consider bracing it a little more. Just cause a footprint it's the same doesn't mean its meant for the same amount of weight. Additionally keep in mind that your going higher rather than wider. If this is going on carpet use caution, even after an aquarium settles with that height you will notice it will rock back and forth with a slight touch due to not haveing a footprint that in my opinion is more stout. If you have kids like mine then it's a concern, cause mine love the aquariums but don't understand not to rough house around them. I know its alot but hopefully it may help. Good luck.

Standard size tanks 75g, 90g, and 110g have the same base size.

To be sure....bring a tape measure. Most stands are not exactly 48" anyhow.
