Time to reseal

Does anyone know where a good (and inexpensive) place is around the north side of town to have my tank resealed, or is it so easy to do I should attempt myself?

You're right...the worst that could happen is I mess up and learn what not to do...everything is better when you do it yourself...

It is not too hard. Just make sure to clean all the old silicone off completely. Use acetone for residue. That is the most important part.
