45G Planted Tank Build.

OK I will be using this thread to document my build. This will include tear down and clean up prior to the build.











As you can see the tank is pretty funky. Please dont judge me. It was like this when I got it and I didnt have time to clean it. Now the former inhabitants are enjoying themselves in a nice 75G, Thanks Matt.

Aside from scrubbing it for hours on end or using a razor to scrape it. Are there any other methods of getting rid of this stuff? I tried the razor and either I am doing it all wrong or it wont work. Its a good possibility that I am just doing it all wrong. Are there any cleaners or chemicals that I can use that will save me some time?

Fill it up with vinegar and let it sit for 24hours. Be creative as to how you want to displace the volume in the middle of the tank. You are only interested in having the vinegar touching the hard water stains, you could do one side at a time with less vinegar, but I'm not that patient.

Don't think so . . . you can also use the vinegar bottle (after you pour out the vinegar). Maybe fill it with water if you don't want it to float. . .

So what are you going to use for Lighting and Filtration?

I have a 36" marineland double bright led and a 24" marineland reef capable led for lighting. For filters I am thinking of using my rena xp2 and maybe the fluval "404?". I have to fix the seals on the fluval but it's gonna work well I think. I forgot what type of fluval it is.
