  • chloramines and carbon snakes $$$$$$$$$$$ bull crap chemistry at work!

the cost of removing chloramines from city tapwater as apposed to chlorine is running carbon snake cost higher since activated carbon is needed as opposed to pelletized carbon.
found this on wikipedia .qoute :Chloramine can be removed from bathwater and birthing tubs by adding 1000 mg of vitamin C (as the ascorbic acid form) to a medium size bathtub (about 40 gallons of water.
my question can i just pop a 1000 mg vitamin c tablet in my aquarium and use a poly prefilter and be done with this bull crap?

It might turn the water soft besides clearing chloramine. Does anybody know what the byproducts are from this reaction?

Seams like alot of work just except your water situation and start using seachem safe. I tried to get around it unless your doing over 500 or gallons of WC a week it's not worth the hassle Imo

I use to dose my tanks with powder vit c, mostly my reef tanks but would throw it into my troph tanks as well,

Never saw any ill effects from it.
