I had issues with food ending up in the overflow so I got a specimen cup from the LFS and cut the bottom out and hung it inside the tank under the feeder. Now all the food ends up sinking into the tank.
Have you tried putting the feeder downstream on the other side of the overflow? Possibly so that the direction of the flow doesn't push the food all the way across the tank right into the overflow?
I've got a lot of flow in the tank so the food that doesn't immediately sink gets pushed around and into the overflow. I have filter outlets in the corners which also contribute to getting the food towards the middle area closer to the overflow.
