Very cool video, I'm just worry about the ph after the co2 injection, did you check your ph? Remember that Malawi cichlids love high ph and co2 will decrease it.

I'll test the PH tomorrow. Wise words which I had not even considered. People running tanks 1/10th the size run about as much co2 as I'm running... Maybe I'll be ok

I wouldn't bother with the CO2, with that size tank and the plants you have it wouldn't be of much benefit.

A better solution would be to run the bottom tank on a reverse photo-period which is when any bit of algae will expels co2 along with the fish. The reverse photo-period would also keep parameters more stable with the plants utilizing the co2 and in exchange produce o2 so pH would not fluctuate.
