For a canister or HOB? I've had a great experience with nylon stockings. The only reason for which I'd purchase Seachem's "The Bag" is to house Purigen, since bleach eats right through stitched seams whenever you need to recharge the stuff... as I so happily learned yesterday. All bleeding stops eventually...

In general. For canister, HOB, or wet dry. Where are these nylon stockings? Are you referring to panty hose?

I use cheap pantyhose for bio media. Also will pick up knee-hi packages when they have them 4 for a $1. Works great. For protection over filter intakes, I use netting called "tulle" you can get at fabric or hobby stores for pennies. Like $2 a yard! Wrap and secure with rubber band. Thanks so much,
