So I'm making homemade sponge filters for certain tanks...I have found all my materials locally and very reasonable....made filters for $1 a piece! Everthing is great except for weighing it down. Have thought of several solutions but figured I'd ask the forum! Please send me our solutions! Thanks a ton, Lydia

Yeah, I saw all the lead strips for plants and all the controversy...... I siliconed stones to bottom of sponge to begin with, but they didn't seem to be heavy enough for the size of sponge. Thought I could find some kind of plastic or vinyl coated weight somewhere without having to do it myself????Thanks so much,
Lydia

[QUOTE=fishman1;555098]Sorry if this is off topic but where did you get the sponge because I've been looking everywhere for some to make my filter shrimp safe[/QUOT.
I bought 2 different kinds. One is a huge yellow sponge from Lowes, pure nothing on it, and I cut in half. They are $2. Now I buy big sections of foam from Joann Fabrics. Its even more economical, you can cut in any size/shapel have white, green and black foam!!! I started these for shrimp tanks, now use for fry, guppies, bettas, breeders, etc. Use 1/2 pvc. Pm me if you need more info. Thanks so much,
Lydia
