  • Question !

I just bought a really nice long tank and I want to keep Cichlids in it but it doesnt have a top. Do you guys think that they will try to jump out ?

If yes then what can i use to make a custom top for my tank?

Need to be more specific... some cichlids jump, some don't, some just hate their lives in your tank and will jump regardless even if not common jumpers.

      Is the tank Rimless?

I made a screen cover for my old reef tank and it used the window screen frames with the cast net netting. Blocked minimal lighting and kept most fish in.

If rimless you could have someone take a sheet of 1/4 inch ply route the outline of the rim so it will set in to the route. Plus being would you could cut out your holes for filtration, heater, etc. then just paint it or stain it.

Na its not rimless... but that will make it easier to get a piece of acrilic or glass to sit on the rim.

Yea, I would put a top on it. You can use egg crates or just get some custom glass or acrylic cut to whatever specs you need. Any acrylic or glass shop can do this for you.
