I have been asked to build an over sized stand for a 60g tank with enough room underneath for a 40g breeder and a 5g jug of water as a top off tank. He wants the tank to sit in the middle of the stand with at least 6" extra around the tank but either front to back or side to side will need a full 20" extra. My current thought process is it easier to build it longer than deeper so it should measure 56"x30" and 36" tall. Going to built it using a frame construction with removable decorative panels for access. The tank has a drilled bottom with over flow in the center of the back so will have to account for that. So what kind of support will I need to hold the tank suspended in the middle like that?

Sounds to me like a 2*4 frame top and bottem with a bit of planning to account for the over flow and the area u need under the tank. Id do a 3/4 ply on the bottem to suport the breeder on the underside. I made both stands i have for my tanks and im allmost done with my four tank rack.5 gal baby hecqui grow out

Well, you didn't really list the dimensions of both tanks! If the 60, is a 36' tank just tall then the stand will look funny being long to have the xtra room on the bottom.5 gal baby hecqui grow out
