Gets pH stable, aerates out chlorine, allows for those that adjust params it also gives this time to stabilize.

They would do good if you go a step further and make some Tanganyikan buffer

I use the carbon bottle and with the way our tap comes out it works good, to take a step further and make water with tanganyikan buffer would be really good and in the past I have noticed better color using it.

You can buy the seachem ready made one or google it for recipe to mix your own.

I am thinking about getting a 2 stage filter (carbon + macron filter) then using that to fill container for 48hr+ aging with small amount of prime and aerator along with water circulatory for water changes. Just want to make sure my fish get good water. After all, I control what I put in my body.

thats pretty much what i do minus the carbon, i sometimes age for a week since i refill the jugs after WC day. EK told me about his carbon snake and i will eventually get around to making one of those just because its more convenient and wont reduce quality.

might sound like a noob but what does aging water do?
I age water to save My Money... I don't have the Money for Chem. So I age age with out Chem.

It also does all the things ek said.

i forgot to mention that i use airstones in 5 gallon jugs
I do not. I let my tank set still with no light. When I put the water in the tank. It airrate the water. As the water sets the chlorine airs out and the heavy stuff (chloramines and other bad things) fall to the bottom of the tank. The pump is on the bottom but pulls water a few in. off the bottom. All the bad stull will spike at some point. (I clean my tank by draining it dry and towel out the bottom. ones a month. To keep it from ever reaching that spike.) As you pump the water in to the Aquarium it airrates again.
Ben doing it this way for a long time. Not saying its the best way to do it. If I had the money for RO/ or even good carbon filter I would. aging water saves me money for other things and it works.

The can is the biggest one made , well the biggest one i found at HD ! If i remember it was about $45.00 soon im going to drill out the bottem add in a bulkhead 1' attacking a hose with a pvc stut off, and plum it so i can hook right up to the fx5 for an easy direct fill.

Call Burbank Drums over in Galena Park.

                          They ar on Clinton Drive.

We use plastic drums all the time at work.

Probably get 34 gallon ( i think) for $40.00 or so.
