      also watch the vid closely its surface skimming on the outer box too...

        Mine sounds like a flushing toilet if I didn't have a mechanism to make it quiet. The tank is reef-ready so it has the corner overflow chambers. Without the standpipe the waterfall would be dropping 29 inches to get to the bottom. The waterfall alone might be tolerable - like some small rapids in a stream. But the flushing toilet noise is just unacceptable haha

            My post was to point out the key points of an overflow box that added on to what kiko stated. I claimed nothing in this thread and your accusation was faulted by not understanding the statement made.

              i like the Styrofoam idea..! been thinking about what to use to cover it to quiet the splashing noise when over flowing to the siphon/drain side

                    Cause you have to cut the plexi and us Asian people work with what we have in the garage. Hahahah the thick insulation foam isn't a bad idea if your drain pipe isn't that tall.
