I'm not done with the tank but I'm at a stopping point for now. Water is still a little cloudy but has been getting better the last few days. The wife made me some filter socks the other day and I added those to the filtration.

I picked up some Texas cichlids from Elvispacman(thanks) and added to the tank. Now, I have a large green texas, 2x perch, 2x unknown cichlids, ? x wc texas, and a large common pleco. Driftwood was picked up in Llano, Moody, and Cleveland while walking around. I bought about 4 bags of the Black Diamond from Tractor supply. The swords I picked up from Allysangels(Thank you).

I would say the black diamond is slightly heavier and there is a slight difference between it and the pfs. I will have to get my hands in both to compare for better information. It seemed to have alot more dust compared to the pfs.

I found that sand blasting have a lot more dust than psf
I wash twice the times the blasting sand

I have Black Beauty. Same thing as the Black Diamond but different brand. The texture I bought is very similar to LPFS. The only difference is the dust. Black Beauty/Diamond has a ton of it because it is made from coal slag abrasive. It isn't that bad once you wash it really well.

the blasting sand is actually bad for them it slowly wears out the fins of the fish that swim on the bottom

I had bichirs and several other bottom dwellers. They seem fine and perfectly happy. Even the bichirs dig underneath the sand and the fish love to grab mouthfuls of the sand and spit it out. None of them have cuts or worn fins.
