I've been throwing the idea around of making a DIY carbon bottle with 6" pvc pipe . Do you know if there is anything in them other than carbon ? What kind of Activated Carbon will work best ? I'm thinking of using a bigger carbon on top and maybe smaller more fine carbon at the bottom .Any suggestions or ideas will be appreciated .Thanks

Most municipal water supplies have made the switch from chlorine to chloramine. This is a mixture of chlorine and ammonia, resulting in a terrible environment for your fish if proper steps are not taken to remove it from your water. These chemicals are toxic to not only fish but plants as well. Using catalytic carbon with a reverse osmosis system will remove chloramines from your water.
Would it be necessary to use a reverse osmosis with catalytic carbon ?Don't tell fish stories where people know you; but particularly, don't tell them where they know the fish.

Kiko made a cheap DIY carbon bottle. I'd invest in more money into the catalytic so that way it'll remove the chlormine as well as the chlorine in the water.

Wash it and any that floats skim it off and throw it away. The 6" pipe carbon filter will work great and I have been thinking of doing it for a few years. Good luckDon't tell fish stories where people know you; but particularly, don't tell them where they know the fish.
