No, just one 2" layer of 20ppi foam, as mentioned OP

People the question is( would the 20 ppi foam would do the job. ). Not wich one is better IMO the floss is better but cost wise is better the foam the fx5 foam work like a charm for small particle for me I would go for foam reusable and Is he closes u can get to floss and still do a good job

Performance (if 20ppi Poret foam performs as good as blue pad and white floss), there's no doubt that Poret foam will be the more cost effective. Just using white filter floss was not doing it for me in my 280 and adding a single layer of bonded blue pad did the trick. Which means that I have a bigger recurring cost every time I service the filter because bonded blue pad is that much costlier than white floss.

This is an issue for me since I will now be servicing 6 canisters. When I had just FX5 canisters, it's not a cost I had to consider because I just rinsed the sponges on them and reused, as Geral said. Trying to see if I can have a similar set up for the Eheims.

Yes. They sell 13"x13" squares that can be trimmed to fit an Eheim.

I'd say if you want to cut down on spending on the padding then why not? 20ppi should filter a decent amount out and save you a lot.

Then I would have to say, yes for the fact that it will trap roughly the same amount. But is long term more reusable. I'd click yes but I'm in Tapatalk sunny. Click it for me.

Don't know if this is any help, but when I was reading up on bio media, I came across what people put in their 2260/2s. A lot of them use the 20 ppi along with the 10 ppi poret foam. They seem to have no problems with their water clarity.
