DIY wet dry

so im starting the build on this wetdry and everywhere that i find bio balls they are really expensive.
where is the cheapest place to get bio-balls?
and where is the cheapest place to get a 700 gph pump?

Normally you do a DIY to avoid high prices of equipment. Why don't you try plastic pot scrubbies? They're 6 for $1 at the dollar store. It's much cheaper than Bio-balls.

i was wondering the same thing. a gallon of coralife bioballs is about 10 bucks in the larger buckets. how many scrubbies would displace a gallon? do you leave them uncompressed or should they be squeezed in some for more surface area?

Yes I do but I am planning on building them myself.
But i do wonder if i should use 1 or 2 overflows

i am doing the exact same research myself and i am taking the advice that it is best to have redundancy for your overflows so i will be running dual 1.5" PVC (~1500 total gph) overflows with a mag drive 9.5 ( it will lose some flow due to head pressure). FWIW, the materials for making two of the DIY standpipe type overflows in this size is enough that i will likely buy a drill through kit from glass-holes.com so that there is zero chance of them losing a prime.

I have 2 overflows DIY ones if anyone needs them they are 1 1/4 PVC looking to trade for anything light related
