  • Water change wand

Well I got tired of sticking my arm in my 150 so I built this contraption. Hopefully it allows me to get all of the poop! I'll probably end up cutting a foot off, its a bit too long...

Go to a larger diameter for the part that goes in the tank like in a gravel vac, less sand sucked out.

I guess this is used between water changes to get all the detritus. Hopefully after I get the power heads I won't need this anymore.

I have thought of doing something like this as well. I'd call it a poop vacuum! It would be nice to have something to get the yucky stuff out from between the rocks without having to go snorkeling or doing a complete water change. I have a 2 foot long vacuum tube on my syphon, but it's standard diameter and just doesn't get between stuff unless I move it. I thought of possibly using something as small as an air line, but that's as far as I got, lol.

Have you tried it out yet?

When I do my large water changes I use 1.25" tubing and go out the window with it. This is used during the week to basically just clean the sand off. Definitely needs to be shorter lol.
