  • Black Sponge?

Where could I get some large square shaped black sponges for cheap? I'm talking under $5. I checked the walmart near me and they don't carry even the rounded peanut-shaped sponges you use for cars, just the sponges for washing dishes. I know Lowe's carries a yellow sponge, but I'd like to get a black one.

Why not just dye it black? Rit dye should do the trick

Didn't know. Is it aquarium safe and where could I find some? How much does it cost?

Yeah, it's safe. Walmart has it for a couple of bucks per package. It's worth a shot. You have to put the dye powder into some water and bring it to a simmer and then let the item being dyed sit in it for about 10 - 15 minutes then take it out and rinse the excess off with cold water.

                Re: Black Sponge?

I saw the prefilter sponges and sponge sheets. They're too small though. I'm trying to make some huge homemade sponges for my hatchery tank
