ah gotcha, the DIY emitters i have been looking at have closer to a 120-150 degree. i like the cool spotlamp look these give you though, the MH but without the heat and power waste.

Here's my version on a smaller (55g) scale. Just figuring how many fixtures I want to use, also have a couple 8000k and blue bulbs coming to play with setups. I'll be drilling holes in my canopy to mount these when it's all said and done

I used cool white 9w bulbs, the blues and 8000ks are 3w, so more accent than anything. Not even sure they will be bright enough to be visible through the 9ws, but heres a link to them

Andrew, what kind of bulbs are you using. Are they the same as sunny?

I have a couple setups that Im going to try.

May go as much as 6x cool whites, 2 blues and 2 8000ks and put them on separate timers

Decided to use eye hooks instead of drilling through the top, for the time being at least. I shouold probably get some glass tops. Not sure how waterproof these are

Very nice indeed! Seems to bring out the color of your fish. But I'm sure the pics don't do them any justice.
