Another DIY LED project

Got the lights installed and the tank assembled. I tryed the lights with the defusers and without the defusesr on the bilb assemblies. I preffer the bulbs like they are in the picture without the defusers. It broadens the spectrum of light and makes the water shimmer so much that it looks like it is on fire. This is one lighting system that I would recommend to everyone because it really lights up the tank and it only cost about 150.00 dollars at the very most. I love it.

That tank is right next to my 120 with t5's and bright substrate and they do not compare when matching brightness. The led's are much brighter. I think that it is a much cleaner and clearer light also.

Thanks Sunny, but it is your DIY. The only mod that I made was screwing down the led base versus your zip ties. I wanted to be sure that I had good heat transfer. When all was said and done, I could only say, wow. I think that this system rocks, much brighter then my t5's on my other tanks.

Little update on the spotlights. I'm using them on basically all of my freshwater tanks. I just got custom bulbs in. If you just ask people who sell bulbs on ebay, they can normally custom make what you want. I had them make bulbs for my cyprichromis tank. Wanted more of a deep water look so they made me 9w bulbs that had 2x 10000k and 1x actinic led per bulb. Then for my trophs, they made me 4w bulbs that have 2x 10000k, 1x 6500k, 1w 3500k leds per bulb. So you can get whatever spectrum you want at virtually no extra cost. You can also request certain beam angles

Jumping up to the 15w bulbs sunny uses, you could make some cool spectrums when you have 15 leds per bulb.
