Here is the hose setup I made from a old hose that the end busted. I cut the hose in half to make one for filling and one for draining. I have been using this hose for over 15 years with no problems to my fish.
I used some 1/2" CPVC with some 90's on the fill hose and an adapter to connect the hose to a faucet. I used tyraps to hold the CPVC in the 5/8" water hose.
I use the Aquem gravel sucker connected to a hose for draining. I made a adapter out of SS fittings that I had and used 1/2" SS tubing that fits in the hose of the gravel sucker.
I am thinking about changing the hose out to white RV water hose. They sell 25ft hose at Walmart for $10.00.
