i was at an apartment with free water too so i didnt realized that. until now that i have to pay for water again.

That doesn't make any sense to me at all. Water isn't that expensive. Not where I live.

every water district is different. last summer i empty my pool and refill it, i had to pay $400 for only 18k gallons.

That's a little over 2 cents per gallon. Based on what you said, your brother was paying 10 cents per gallon or more, which seems a bit high.

Yea apartments are smaller, but water is cheap when it comes to doing 200+ gallons worth of water changes.

1/2" CPVC fits real tight in the 1/2" white water hose from Walmart. I would use 1/2" CPVC ball valves with adapters to 1/2" CPVC. I used a tyrap to hold the pipe in the hose.

I could only find 25ft RV hose at the Walmart at Spring Cypress and 249. I did see some 50ft RV hose at Ace Hardware.


I dont have valves on my setup because the fitting and hose in the sink leaks a little bit. When you have a valve on the line and you close it it will pressure up and leak more. I probably could add more rubber o-rings to the fitting to stop the laek.

So when you drain/clean the tank do you submerge the hose and put a finger over one end to keep the siphon? I need to get a clamp so I can hold this bad boy to the side of the tank. Wow this is going to make water changes on the 75 soooo much easier. I do pretty big changes so it ends up being a ****ton of 5 gallon buckets.

On a side note if anyone needs place to get food grade square 5 gallon buckets: Shipleys! They sell them to me for 1.75 and all they had in them are icing. Come with gasket tops also. Super durable I use them for two bucket method washing my car and I have a whole stack of them for aquarium purposes. If anyone is in need of buckets check your local Shipleys. They may have them in the back just ask if you can buy some.
