    The other picture I posted shows the suction tube I use. When you move it up and down in the water it automatically fills the hose up and starts siphoning. It has a check valve in the top part of the tube. I got it from Petmarts.

    Here is the U shape pipe. You can add a ball valve where the hose mates to the pipe.

    okay the check valve forces the siphon to continue, got it. I like the simplicity. So you just kind of jack it up and down in the water and since it can't back flow it drains. Any pics of the drain attachment? thanks

      The picture is on the first page of this post named sucker hose. Reread my original post. You will have to make an adapter to hook the suction tube to the water hose.

      The gravel cleaner I have is the Marina easy start/clean brand.
