  • PVC Pipe for Water changes?

all the water outlets in my house are to dang far, and i need between 75-100ft of hose. so what i have thougt about is making a pvc extention from the water outlet in my wack yard to where i have my tanks and then connect the regular python/vinyl hose to do the water change and refill.

my question here is would the pvc affect the water condition as to release chemicals or produce deadly algea or mold?

    what would you suggest?

pvc pipe is really afforable and each 10ft pipe is around $1.50 compare to a 10-25ft hose running $10-50.

Would be the same as what's in your walls. Only issue would be stagnant water would grow algae if you had it in the light. maybe you could paint it black to help keep growth down.

Can you bury most of it??

yes, it would be placed in place around the house i can paint it black. also i will disconnect when not in use. so there will be no water in it. or i can just let the water on.

and i cant bury it becase we have a concrete deck.

I would just flush the line out for a couple minutes before you add the water to the tank.

If ur gona dis-assemble each time , theres really no need to paint it. Just run ur water for a minute or so before actual filling tank. Seems like a lota work to run from outside in tho. Id just buy a faucet to hose adapter and use a garden hose to the tank. Hoses arent that much just picked up a 25 ft at wally mart for 10.00. And ya could ever hook in a Rv carbon bottle too.

I bought a 75 foot hose from home depot for 50. It was the heavy duty no kink kind. Easy to flush the water out of and easy to roll up to get out of yor way.

R you can buy a cheep garden hose. After you buy all the parts, glue, and cleaner you could buy a good RV hose.

                  Go big or go home.

I use 3" pipes and hose for my water change.

You be surprise how fast 300 gallons of water can drain.

I used a 2.5" when I had my 300. Draining was a piece of cake.... filling it up on the other hand. Not so much

draining is not so hard but i am tired of using a bucket.

A bucket? You have a python right? They make an extension for it. Buy the extension. Drain the tank out the closest window
