  • My Led upgrade

This is my first post on here, so hopefully it comes out all right..

My son has a 55g in his room that he has cichlids in now. So here is the tank before adding blue leds.

Here is the blue leds I origanally bought to put on my motorcycle. I picked them up from a odd ball store on the way back from San Antonio. They were $5.71 for each pod.

Here is both pods lit up before I mounted them in the fixture.

I solder on a 12v transformer I found laying around the garage and connected two of the pods in series. I installed one pod on each side of the existing fluorescent light using double sided tape.

So here it is with the fluorescents off and the two led pods on. You can see the left side is the only one I have put the lights on.

I took this picture with my flash on and you can see really see the blue light.

I've never used leds before for a tank. Do you think these leds will be ok?

    Thanks Chris.....

The LEDs are fine. What was your concern about them?

I wasn't sure if the LEDs where the same color of blue as other on this site were using. Then I only had the LEDs on for one night, so I don't really know if they like the light or not.

There's different intensities of blue that people use. Since it's a freshwater tank, it is all up to if you like it or not.
