  • 55 gallon top frame repair

Ok so I am about to begin my first "repair" on an aquarium! I am excited.. But I have a few questions I am hoping someone may be able to answer for me.
I am going to be replacing the top frame of my 55 gallon because the center brace broke.
I bought my new frame and I have GE Silicone 1 window/door/attic/basement, and razor blades and all the essentials! But what I'm afraid of is will my livestock be ok during this repair or will I have to relocate them. I have another tank but its only 25 gallons. I don't think It will accommodate the livestock very comfortably!!
Any suggestions or reassurance will be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you all.

Yes it is full with water and fully stocked, some would say over stocked, and I have had a bessy bar clamp on it since it broke.
So now I have the replacement framework for the top and I THINK I am ready to begin, but I want to know if it is safe to do the repair with the fish in their.

I would drain tank and fix it without water or fish in the tank

Do you think that the 20 or so 2-4 " each cichlids I have in there currently will be ok for 3 days inmy 25 gallon? Almost exact water parameters.
