  • acrylic scratch repair

Does anyone have any tips and things to know before I attempt to remove the inside scratched from my acrylic tank? Scratches are fairly light caused by sand in an algae scrubber. I was thinking using 2000 grit sand paper and 2500 grit. Wet sanded. And then polish the sanded area with plastx. Is this as simple as it sounds?

Watch this video, it will show you how: the key is to allow your sander to just glide on the wet acrylic surface, Not putting any heavy pressure, use spray bottle to spray alot of dish washing soap mixed with water when sanding, use alot of micro towels for each separate application, separate towels for wet sanding only & separate towels for polishing or buffing. Take your time and focus on sanding & polishing small portions at a time especially in small tight areas. I use 2 or 3 different types & shapes of buffer wheels, find the lightest weight for your power drill. I will use micro towels to constantly wipe down the acrylic area clean and resand or polish again if necessary. I will repeat this process until i am very satisfied with the results. I also replay the youtube video if necessary, hope this helps.... good luck!
